When the Music Starts? Who are you Really Worshipping?

In a time when Christian music fills arenas and tops charts, it’s worth asking:

Which God are we singing to?

Because not every lyric that mentions “God” is rooted in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob –the Holy One of Israel, the consuming fire, the covenant keeper.

Too often, the industry trades in reverence for relevance. Songs become spiritual mood boards – vague, palatable, and marketable.

  •  But where is the fear of the Lord?
  •  Where is the trembling before His holiness?
  •  Where is the clarity that we worship the God who parted the seas, thundered from Sinai, and spoke through prophets who were rejected for telling the truth?

This isn’t about gatekeeping – it’s about truth keeping.

The God of Scripture is not a vague force of positivity. He is personal, precise, and jealous for His name. And when Christian music drifts from that anchor, it becomes a mirror of culture rather than a window to heaven.

I’m not here to condemn artists, I’m here to call us back. Back to the altar. Back to the Word. Back to the God who doesn’t change with trends.

Let our songs be sanctuaries. Let them carry the weight of glory. Let them echo the voice of Isaiah: “Here am I. Send me.”
